MCI (MAJOR CHICKEN INCIDENT) ON PYLE CENTER ROAD

Monday 11:58 hrs.  Roxana fire police were alerted to respond to an unspecified incident on Pyle Center Road at Daisey Rd.  Responders found a 40'+ tree laying across the highway.  North of that point were dead chickens on the highway and cages of live and dead chickens laying on the road.  North of that point was a tractor trailer loaded with crates of chickens which had shifted on the trailer.  It appeared as though the truck had moved off the road, struck several trees, knocked over at least two signs and lost part of its load.  DelDOT was notified and cut up and disposed of the tree.  In the mean time, two large rotator-style tow trucks, two flatbed tow trucks, a front loader and a forklift were called in to remove the dead chickens from the road and from the truck and then to move the crates onto another truck.  Pyle Center Road was closed for about 2 1/2 hours.
